  • Maneuverability
  • Customization Options
  • A Wide Array of Features for a Low Price

Model Overview:

Scion's 2010 xD is a 5-door hatchback aimed toward young buyers. Its size puts it squarely in the small car category but provides many of the interior appointments of a larger, more expensive vehicle. Scion's simplified ordering means the 2010 xD is offered in only one trim, but can be had with either a standard 5-speed manual or optional 4-speed automatic transmission, as well as an extensive accessory list.

All xDs get a 1.8L inline-4 engine that makes 128 horsepower and 125 foot-pounds of torque. Front suspension consists of independent MacPherson struts, while rear suspension is a torsion beam setup.

Standard equipment on all trims includes air conditioning, cruise control, tilt steering-wheel with audio controls and power windows, locks and mirrors. Also standard for 2010 is intermittent front wipers, a rear window wiper and 16-inch wheels available in three styles.

Also standard on all xDs is a Pioneer audio system with an organic electroluminescent screen, iPod and a subwoofer RCA output. An optional Alpine Premium audio system is available, which adds a 4.3-inch color touch-screen with HD radio technology

Standard safety features include front seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side-curtain bags and anti-lock brakes (ABS).

Owners can customize their xDs with a variety of Scion Genuine Accessories packages. Exterior optional factory enhancements include chrome exhaust tips, front and rear bumper ground effects kit, rear spoiler, B-pillar logo appliquż on black Carbon Fiber cloth, rear bumper protector appliquż with xD logo, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED rear taillights. A total of 53 factory accessories, including lowering springs, sport mufflers and five-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels, can be obtained from Toyota Racing Development (TRD). A navigation system and remote engine start are also available.

Model Changes:

Following its introduction in 2008, the Scion xD enters 2010 with no significant changes. Electronic vehicle stability control is now standard, and new exterior colors include Black Currant, Barcelona Red Metallic and Nautical Blue Metallic.

Model Value:

The 2010 Scion xD, which replaced the xA in 2008 as Scion's entry-level hatchback, features a contemporary, aggressive appearance. Its small size makes it easy to park car with excellent fuel economy and roomy interior. The 2010 Scion xD still features flared wheel wells with 16-inch wheels and tires. Inside, the speedometer and tachometer are located within the same cleverly laid-out gauge, which resembles a sophisticated watch face.

The 2010 xD has an extensive list of standard equipment, to include premium audio, and offers a wide array of optional Scion-specific accessories that provide the opportunity to personalize the xD for just a little more money. MSRP starts at $14,800. Mileage is estimated at 27 mpg city / 33 mpg highway.
